At the request of a major mast and rigging manufacturer we have investigated the causes of a rapid deterioration of the paintwork on spars.
Our measurements revealed a major electrical leak when the VHF was transmitting, probably due to an insulation defect on the antenna cable.
This phenomenon was of course strongly amplified by the AIS system which transmits several times a minute!
